Blake

grew up in the rolling hills of Northern California halfway between Sacramento and                            San Francisco. From the moment he was born it didn’t take long for his God given gift of music to rise up and shake the windows. By age 5 he started playing drums, which at the time consisted of 2 snare drums and 2 metal knitting needles as drumsticks. No one is really sure who had it worse, the other family members in the house or the drum skins that were taking a constant beating from the cold steel of those knitting needles.  By the time it was all said and done Blake had added trumpet, piano, bass, and guitar to his list of instruments. It certainly wasn’t hard for anyone to see that music was Blake’s life. He lived and breathed it to the point where nothing was even a close second.

Original and cover bands soon followed over the years including 2 years of traveling the Western US with a Top-40 band. After this period of being on the road Blake took a couple of years off from playing in bands and returned to college to study computer programming in hopes of finding a “real job”. He needed a break, he was off course... and he knew it. Yes it was time to get back to doing what he loved, writing and preforming his own music.

In 2002 Blake joined the worship team at his church and began writing songs for God. This led to the release of several Christian CD’s between 2007 - 2011 (As For Me And My Music… - 2007, Plumbline – 2009, Audience Of One – 2011), along with one secular acoustic pop CD (Noises From The Cat Room – 2011). There were a couple of other notable accomplishments around this time as well.  Getting the lead track on the Solano Pulse CD (Feedback – 2004) and also getting a song on Dreamland Discs Takin’ A Ride – A Tribute to Enuff Z’Nuff CD. (Your Hearts No Good – 2004)

When asked to describe his music the words Power Pop are sure to follow. I have seen him simplify the description over the years to a simple sentence, “It’s a mix of rock and pop”, although a lot of country overtones have found their way to his music lately. In any case Blake has always sounded like…well like Blake. Never really fitting squarely into one specific genre in which over time he has come to grips with. It’s okay not to fit in a big box with everyone else he states...

Blake is currently putting his original music on hold while he fronts the Cheap Trick tribute band, Cheap Trip. This move is no surprise to anyone that knows him.
